PM Continues to Criticize Global Military Spending, Advocates for Medical Research

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen continued his criticism of military research and the creation of war by countries around the world. At a graduation ceremony on May 18, he said that those who use of money to build weapons and strengthen their military have lost their humanity.

The Prime Minister said that war destroys countries, economies, and people’s lives, all for the benefit of weapons dealers. Speaking to more than 1,000 graduating medical students, he said that if just half the money spent on the military was spent on medical research, it would be to the benefit of all humanity in making the world a better place to live.

"We too are in the global framework which is responsible for protecting the welfare of our people," he said.
